We are frequently engaged to provide independent checking for construction proposals, and carry out Category III checks of permanent works for both road and rail projects. BUILDINGS

Our way of undertaking building projects is centred around quality, sustainability and a deep consideration for the needs of all parties involved.

We have applied our signature approach on construction projects for development groups, housing associations, government agencies, local authorities, privatised utilities, contractors, and other consultants. We frequently work in association with contractors on a ‘design and build’ basis, meaning we cover the entire project from conception, to construction.

From small domestic commissions to large corporate projects, we complete our work to the same high-quality, with cost-effective design solutions and industry leading advice. We utilise all the usual forms of building construction on our many projects including steel frames, reinforced concrete frames, masonry, timber, and aluminium.

CIVIL ENGINEERING

We have an acute awareness of the problems that can arise in civil engineering projects. The senior members of our practice have all worked in contractors’ design offices and are well used to finding solutions to these problems. The experience of our engineers covers both temporary and permanent works within civil engineering projects.

Temporary works undertaken by the firm include access systems, shuttering design, formwork systems, tower crane bases, cofferdams and major excavation erection gantries, and major bridge falseworks.

Permanent works we are likely to cover include water retaining structures, reinforced concrete and steel framed structures. The extensive experience of the practice also includes highway bridge design and construction techniques, and we can carry out Category III independent checks as required.

We offer a complete value engineered design service including fully detailed construction method statements and associated risk assessments.

Healthcare

Richter has been engaged by the medical field for several projects and we have utilised our expertise and experience for works on several Harley Street projects. One such commission was a complex RC basement design which entailed providing massive walls and slab to give necessary shielding to the scanning equipment.

Historic Buildings

Our experienced engineers have carried out several works on historic building projects, deftly handling the complexities required when dealing with listed, protected buildings.

Our expertise, understanding and awareness of the specific considerations of a historic building project includes strengthening measures to bring the property up to the required modern standard, or the introduction of modern equipment to prevent the overloading of the structure.

We build and carry out works to protect our heritage. All historic building projects undertaken by Richter are completed with the sensitivity and care these wonderful buildings deserve.

Housebuilding

We have in-depth knowledge expertise in a range of house building structural matters, and we enjoy working with clients ranging from individual domestic clients to large developers.

Our wide experience in design and construction enables Richter to undertake anything from a simple structural alteration or extension, to a full design service for the largest of individual properties. We always work closely with the client and hold ourselves to our own high standards to consistently deliver a first-class service.

We offer effective advice on Design and Build projects, and offer appropriate solutions for any given problem to save our clients time and money. Railway Engineering

Richter regularly works with major rail contractors offering vast experience and knowledge in all design aspects relating to the rail network. We work hard to maintain the strict standards required by our RISQS qualification, pushing ourselves to consistently comply with the network’s extremely specific requirements.

We offer a comprehensive service from initial site survey and ground investigation, through to detailed design and completion of Form 001, 002, and 003 paperwork.

Our experienced engineers have detailed knowledge of all design and structural aspects of level crossings, and consider Network Rail Line and Group Standards requirements in all areas of railway engineering.

The practice has participated in several important re-signalling contracts where we were asked to create detailed designs and, when required, undertake independent checking (WCRM and SWIM). Our extensive expertise covers a variety of design remits for signal and OLE foundation structures including reinforced concrete pad foundations, driven piles with concrete pilecaps, and screwpiles with steel grillages.

We have replaced several station Customer Information Systems including those for 126 CIS for SW Trains, and 50 at stations for WAGN. Our structural designers have also been responsible for the standard foundation designs for the GSM-R project.

We specialise in finding the right design solutions for railway engineering projects. As an approved consultant to London Underground, our designers developed an innovative system for vertical and lateral jacking of escalators to maintain alignment whilst still in service. We have also undertaken the complete renewal of several station lifts throughout the Underground Rail system.
